What was the American experience of the New Imperialism of the late nineteenth century?
This was the period which saw the United States look out for colonies around the world. Before this period, this acquisition of territory had simply been an activity that took place in the North American part of the country.
In the 1890’s, the activities of the United States was major to acquire the territories which were present at the Caribbean and the Pacific (Palmer et al., 2007). These territories were not taken by the US with the aim of making them states. The main idea behind them was for economic exploitation.
