Term Paper The Disabilities Act
According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), an individual with a disability is a person who has a physical or mental impairment(s) that substantially limit his or her life activities. Or one with a history of a substantially limiting impairment(s), or is regarded or perceived by an employer(s) as having a substantially limiting impairment(s). The workplace code of ethics, however, fails to focus on the history of substantially limiting impairment as it seeks to unfold the myth of workplace discrimination.
According to Jones, workplace policies that relate to a job applicant with disabilities, like all other applicants, must be seen to meet the workplace requirements for that job, such as education, training, skills, licenses, and employment experience. He further alludes that, the inconsistencies that are perpetuated by employers in the implementation of best practices that regard to persons with disabilities are clustered in a manner that is meant to cover the employer alone.
